2A Armament Xanthos-Lite XLR-18 .308
2A Armament · Battle Rifle · In Production · 2016
Overview
The 2A Armament Xanthos-Lite XLR-18 is 2A's large-frame .308 / AR-10-pattern rifle and the big-bore counterpart to the Balios Lite. Built on CNC-machined 7075-T6 billet upper and lower receivers -- the upper fluted to save weight -- it features a flared mag well, rear tensioning screw and a 'slick side' design. The 18-inch lightweight 2A-contour barrel is 4150 steel with a QPQ Nitride finish, .308 Match chamber, rifle-length gas system and a 1:10 twist. Heavy use of titanium -- the gas block, takedown pins and X4/X5 muzzle brake -- keeps the complete rifle to roughly 6.75 pounds, exceptionally light for a .308 semi-auto. It uses the Xanthos-Lite 15-inch M-LOK free-float handguard, a CMC two-stage flat trigger, a Magpul MIAD grip and a Mission First Tactical stock, and feeds from SR-25 / DPMS-pattern magazines.

Background
Named for the second of Achilles' immortal horses, the Xanthos-Lite brought 2A Armament's titanium-and-billet weight-saving formula to the large-frame AR, producing a .308 semi-auto that weighs about the same as a loaded service rifle yet retains an 18-inch barrel and match chamber.
