Notes

Adams Arms pioneered piston retrofit kits for AR-15 rifles before developing complete piston-driven firearms. The company was founded by Jim Granger in Palm Harbor, Florida, and became well-known for their patented short-stroke piston system. The P2 model features their latest generation micro-adjustable gas block which provides more precise tuning than previous designs. The short-stroke piston system differs from long-stroke designs (like PWS or AK-47) by using an operating rod that does not travel the full length with the bolt carrier. This results in less reciprocating mass and theoretically better accuracy. The rifle is designed to accept standard AR-15 magazines and most aftermarket accessories. Adams Arms temporarily ceased operations in 2024 but was acquired by Alexandria Pro-Fab, with plans to resume production. The P2 is available in multiple barrel lengths and calibers including .308 Winchester variants.

Background

Adams Arms built their reputation by offering piston conversion kits that could transform standard AR-15s into piston-driven rifles, allowing shooters to upgrade existing firearms. The P-Series represents the culmination of their piston system development, incorporating lessons learned from years of retrofit kit production into purpose-built complete rifles.
