Overview

The ArmaLite AR-10 SuperSASS is a semi-automatic precision rifle chambered in 7.62x51mm NATO, designed as a Semi-Automatic Sniper System for law enforcement and civilian precision shooting. Built on ArmaLite's proven AR-10 platform, the SuperSASS Gen II features a 20-inch 416R stainless steel barrel treated with a durable black nitride finish, a 15-inch M-LOK tactical handguard, and a Magpul PRS adjustable stock. Notes

The SuperSASS name stands for Super Semi-Automatic Sniper System. The Gen II update brought the M-LOK handguard, improved gas system, and black nitride barrel treatment. The 416R stainless steel barrel provides excellent corrosion resistance and consistent accuracy. The rifle's adjustable gas system is particularly useful for suppressor use, preventing over-gassing that can cause reliability issues. MSRP is approximately $3,100-$3,400.

Background

ArmaLite originally designed the AR-10 in 1956, making it the progenitor of the entire AR family of rifles including the AR-15/M16. The SuperSASS carries forward that legacy by pushing the platform's precision capabilities to their limit, demonstrating that Eugene Stoner's original large-caliber design remains competitive in the modern precision rifle market over six decades after its conception.
