Overview
The Baikal MP-154 is a Russian 12-gauge shotgun produced by the Izhevsk Mechanical Plant under the Baikal trademark, built on the gas-operated MP-153 platform. Its defining feature is a dual-mode action that can be switched between gas-driven semi-automatic and manually cycled pump operation, similar in concept to the Franchi SPAS-12. This lets it reliably feed everything from full-power birdshot, buckshot and slugs in semi-automatic mode to low-energy special-purpose loads such as tear-gas and rubber-baton rounds that lack the recoil impulse to cycle a self-loading action, fired in pump mode.

Background
Where the MP-153 earned a reputation for digesting any standard shell you fed it, the MP-154 added a manual pump option for the loads a gas gun simply cannot cycle, gas charges and rubber bullets, making the same Russian platform equally at home with full-power hunting rounds and low-energy crowd-control munitions.
