The Bor is a Polish bolt-action sniper rifle chambered in 7.62x51mm NATO, developed by Zaklady Mechaniczne Tarnow (ZMT) as a modern precision sniping platform for the Polish Armed Forces. Named after the codename of General Tadeusz Komorowski, a prominent World War II resistance leader, the Bor represents Poland's effort to develop a domestically produced precision sniper rifle meeting NATO standards. The Bor was developed to replace aging Soviet-era sniper rifles in Polish service, particularly the SWD (Polish SVD variant). The rifle uses an aluminum alloy chassis that provides a rigid bedding platform for the free-floating barrel, contributing to its sub-MOA accuracy capability. The folding stock reduces transport length for airborne and mechanized infantry operations. The rifle is compatible with standard NATO accessories and optics via its Picatinny rail system. A .338 Lapua Magnum variant has been developed for extended-range engagements. The Bor has been deployed with Polish military contingents in Afghanistan as part of NATO ISAF operations.
