Overview

The Brno Model 1 is a .22 LR bolt-action rifle developed by Zbrojovka Brno in Czechoslovakia. Designed by the Koucky brothers and Malek, it carries the factory designation ZKM 451 and was originally created near the end of World War II as a small-bore training rifle. The Model 1 feeds from a five-round detachable box magazine, uses a bolt-mounted safety, a flip-up leaf rear sight, and a wide open ejection port. After the war it remained in production as a popular sporting and training rifle, laying the foundation for Brno's long line of .22 bolt-action rifles.

Background

Near the end of World War II the German military tasked Brno Arms with designing a compact .22 LR training rifle, resulting in the ZKM 451. After the conflict it transitioned seamlessly into a civilian sporting rifle and became the first of Brno's celebrated rimfire bolt-action lineage.
