Bushmaster BA30

Bushmaster Firearms International · Rifle · In Production · 2022

Overview

The Bushmaster BA30 is a straight-pull bolt-action rifle built on an AR-10/DPMS LR-308 pattern platform and chambered in .308 Winchester (with a 6.5 Creedmoor option). Its defining feature is a bilateral straight-pull bolt handle that protrudes from either side of the upper receiver, combined with spring-assisted loading that lets the bolt fly forward under spring pressure for rapid follow-up shots. The rifle uses an interchangeable XM-10 M-LOK free-float handguard, a DM2S two-stage AR-pattern trigger (compatible with any AR-style fire control group), an adjustable BFI folding stock with interchangeable recoil pad, and standard SR-25/AR-10 magazines.

Background

The BA30 was Bushmaster's attempt to bring the speed of a straight-pull action - long popular in European competition and hunting - to the familiar AR-10 ergonomics and magazine compatibility favored by American shooters, splitting the difference between a precision bolt gun and a semi-automatic rifle.
