Also known as: METE SFT, Canik SFT
Overview
The Canik METE SFT is a striker-fired, polymer-framed semi-automatic pistol chambered in 9x19mm Parabellum, introduced in August 2021 as part of Canik's METE (The Evolution) series. Manufactured by Samsun Yurt Savunma (SYS) in Samsun, Turkey, the METE SFT is a mid-size duty pistol featuring a 4.46-inch (113.5mm) barrel and an 18+1 round capacity with an optional 20-round extended magazine. The pistol is distinguished by its factory optics-ready slide with a co-witness cut that accepts a wide range of micro red dot sights including the Trijicon RMRcc and Shield RMS/RMSc patterns. Key design elements include a flat-faced single-action trigger with a short reset and nickel-coated action components, an integrated flared magwell for faster reloads, three interchangeable backstraps for customizable grip sizing, a full-length M1913 Picatinny accessory rail, and a reversible magazine catch. The METE SFT builds on the legacy of Canik's TP9 series and is produced in a NATO-approved, ISO 9000-certified facility that also manufactures aerospace and defense components for partners including Lockheed Martin, Airbus, and Boeing. Widely praised for offering one of the best factory triggers in the striker-fired pistol market, the METE SFT has earned a reputation as an exceptional value proposition for duty use, competitive shooting, and self-defense applications.

Notes
The 'SFT' designation stands for 'Special Forces - Tactical' and denotes the mid-size variant in the METE lineup, positioned between the compact SF and the full-size/long-slide SFX. The METE SFT's trigger pull averages approximately 3.75-4.0 pounds (16.7-17.8 N) across independent reviews, making it notably lighter than most competing factory striker-fired triggers. The optics-ready slide eliminates the typical rear plate hole found on most striker-fired pistols to prevent dust and dirt ingress. Century Arms serves as the exclusive U.S. importer under the Canik USA brand. A 20-round magazine with a +2 base pad is included alongside the standard 18-round magazine. Canik offers a voluntary Severe Duty Upgrade for the trigger safety spring and firing pin block spring for users requiring enhanced drop safety beyond standard industry requirements.
