Overview
The Chapuis X4 is a French side-by-side double rifle built on a scalloped box-lock action derived from Chapuis's Progress 28-gauge frame, paired with lightweight 22-inch barrels for a total weight of around six pounds. Chambered in 9.3x74R and .30-06 Springfield, it is a two-shot break-action big-game rifle with double triggers, automatic ejectors, adjustable standing rear and ramp front sights, a manual safety and a laser-engraved coin-finished receiver. Its defining feature is a patent-pending adjustable guiding ring at the muzzles that lets the free-floating right barrel be re-regulated to fine-tune barrel convergence for different loads without soldering, refinishing or traditional gunsmithing.

Introduced by Chapuis Armes (a Beretta Holding company) for the 2025 season and distributed in the United States by Chapuis USA. The adjustable barrel-regulation system distinguishes it from conventional soldered-barrel doubles. Also accepts a Recknagel scope-mounting system. MSRP in the US was roughly 7,300 to 8,999 dollars depending on chambering and package.
Background
Chapuis Armes, a family gunmaker founded in the Loire valley town of Saint-Bonnet-le-Chateau and acquired by Beretta Holding in 2019, unveiled the X4 as a modern take on the classic express double rifle, its user-adjustable barrel regulation solving the century-old problem of tuning a two-barrel rifle to shoot both barrels to the same point of impact.
