Overview

The Charter Arms Pitbull in .40 S&W is a five-shot, stainless-steel double-action/single-action snub-nose revolver chambered for the rimless .40 S&W cartridge. Introduced in 2011 as the first of the Pitbull line, it dispenses with the moon clips normally needed to fire rimless ammunition in a wheelgun: a patented spring-loaded ejector star carries five individual plungers, one per chamber, that snap into each cartridge's extractor groove to load, retain, and eject rounds. It carries a 2.3-inch barrel, fixed serrated-ramp front and notch rear sights, an exposed hammer, and a hand-filling three-finger rubber grip.
