Overview
The Cimarron 1892 Takedown is a modern lever-action reproduction rifle chambered in pistol-caliber cartridges, distributed by Cimarron Firearms of Fredericksburg, Texas and manufactured in Italy on the classic John M. Browning-designed Winchester Model 1892 pattern. Its defining feature is a takedown construction that lets the barrel-and-magazine assembly be unscrewed from the receiver, splitting the rifle into two compact halves for storage, transport, or cleaning. Built around a case-colored steel receiver with a blued octagonal barrel and an American walnut stock, the '92 Takedown feeds from a tubular magazine and uses Browning's twin vertical-sliding locking-bolt action for a strong, smooth stroke. Offered principally in .44-40 Winchester alongside .45 Colt and other cowboy chamberings, it is a popular choice for Cowboy Action Shooting, collectors, and re-enactors who want an authentic Old West lever gun in a period-correct takedown configuration.

Background
The Model 1892 that Cimarron's takedown recreates was John M. Browning's small-frame masterpiece, immortalized on screen by John Wayne's spinning big-loop rifle in Stagecoach and Chuck Connors' flip-cocking gun in The Rifleman. The takedown feature Cimarron faithfully reproduces was originally a premium Winchester option prized by travelers and hunters who needed to break their rifle down for a saddlebag or trunk.
