Cimarron Model P Jr

Cimarron Firearms · Revolver · In Production

Also known as: Model P Jr., Model P Junior, Cimarron CA985

Overview

The Cimarron Model P Jr is a single-action revolver chambered in .38 Special, a roughly three-quarter-scale reproduction of the Colt Single Action Army pattern distributed in the United States by Cimarron Firearms and built in Italy by Uberti. Where the full-size Model P retains a standard grip frame, the Junior shrinks the frame, cylinder and barrel around smaller cartridges, producing a lighter, trimmer sixgun well suited to the .38 Special. The traditional single-action lockwork requires the shooter to manually cock the hammer for each shot, feeding from a six-round fluted cylinder loaded one round at a time through a hinged loading gate and cleared with a spring-loaded ejector rod. The pre-war-style color case-hardened frame, hammer and loading gate contrast with the polished blued barrel, cylinder and ejector housing, and smooth walnut grip panels wear Cimarron medallions on both sides. Fixed 19th-century-style sights, a rounded blade front paired with a rear groove, complete the period-correct presentation. Offered with 3.5-inch, 4.75-inch and 5.5-inch barrels, the Model P Jr appeals to cowboy-action shooters, collectors and recreational plinkers who want authentic frontier styling in a more compact, comfortably shootable package.

Background

Cimarron Firearms built its reputation on historically faithful reproductions of Old West firearms, and the Model P Jr scales down the iconic Single Action Army silhouette for shooters who find the full-size Colt pattern too large. Chambered for gentle, plentiful cartridges like the .38 Special, it has become a favorite for cowboy-action competition and casual range use.
