CMMG Dissent Mk3

Overview

The CMMG Dissent Mk3 is the large-frame, AR-10 size member of CMMG's bufferless Compact Action family, chambered in .308 Winchester, 6.5 Creedmoor, and 8.6 Blackout. Engineering the buffer-tube-free Compact Action for a full-power .308-class cartridge required evolving the AR-10 direct-impingement bolt carrier group into a compact form cycled by dual guide rods and springs in the upper receiver. The result is a folding-stock-capable big-bore semi-auto: the 16.1-inch-barreled .308 weighs about 8.5 pounds and folds to roughly 28 inches via the Dissent folding stock adapter. The Mk3 features a reversible ambidextrous side charging handle, adjustable gas block, M-LOK free-float handguard, and 7075-T6 aluminum receivers with Cerakote finish, feeding from 20-round Magpul PMAG LR/SR magazines. The 8.6 Blackout configuration uses a fast 1:3 twist barrel optimized for heavy subsonic .338 projectiles, while .308 and 6.5 Creedmoor use 1:10 and 1:8 twists respectively. Barrel lengths range from 12.5 inches up to 20 inches.

Notes

MSRP approximately $2,349. The Dissent Mk3 is the large-frame bufferless rifle; the 8.6 Blackout chambering (1:3 twist) is purpose-built for heavy subsonic loads and pairs well with suppressors. The Br3 sub-variant is a compliant, non-threaded, fixed-stock configuration for restrictive states.

Background

Adapting the bufferless Compact Action to the recoil and bolt mass of a .308-class cartridge was a significant engineering milestone, letting CMMG offer a genuinely folding AR-10 - something the conventional buffer-tube design cannot do.
