Overview

The Cometa Fenix 400 is a Spanish break-barrel, spring-piston air rifle produced by Carabinas Cometa of Eibar. It is a full-power magnum sporting airgun available in .177 (4.5mm), .22 (5.5mm) and .25 (6.35mm) calibers, and is notable for its cold hammer-forged barrel, which Cometa manufactures in-house. The rifle features a two-stage adjustable trigger, fiber-optic open sights with a micrometric rear, an automatic safety and an 11mm scope dovetail, and is offered in a wide range of stock and configuration variants including Compact, Premier, Star, Galaxy and Ultra Short Carbine models, with gas-piston (GP) versions also available.

Notes

Muzzle velocity varies by caliber and legislation: approximately 330 m/s in .177, 275 m/s in .22 and 215 m/s in .25 with standard pellets. Many variants can be converted between spring-piston and gas-ram powerplants.

Background

Carabinas Cometa is one of the few airgun makers that still forges its own barrels, and the Fenix 400 is built around a cold hammer-forged barrel produced in the company's Basque works at Eibar, a town with a centuries-old firearms tradition.
