Overview

The CS/LR3 (military designation QBU-141) is a Chinese bolt-action precision rifle designed and manufactured by Norinco. Chambered for the dedicated DBU-141 5.8x42mm match-grade cartridge, it is intended as a designated marksman / police precision rifle for ranges out to roughly 600 m. The free-floating heavy barrel, adjustable polymer chassis-style stock, and bipod-equipped fore-end give the rifle around 1 MOA accuracy with issued ammunition.

Notes

The CS/LR3 was designed alongside the matched DBU-141 cartridge - making it one of the few sniper rifles built specifically around a precision-tuned variant of an existing service round. Despite a similar designator, it is unrelated to the larger 7.62x51mm CS/LR4.

Background

The CS/LR3 ships with its own purpose-designed 5.8x42mm DBU-141 match cartridge - Norinco's answer to the West's habit of pairing rifles with off-the-shelf 7.62 NATO match loads. The rifle and round were essentially co-developed.
