Overview
The CVA Paramount is a bolt-action in-line muzzleloader rifle introduced in 2018 as a purpose-built long-range blackpowder hunting rifle. Chambered in .45 caliber, it pairs a Bergara button-rifled, nitride-treated stainless steel barrel (1:22" or 1:20" twist) with a Grayboe fiberglass stock and aluminum pillar bedding. Its VariFlame breechplug and heavy volumetric charges of Blackhorn 209 propellant push a 285-grain PowerBelt ELR bullet past 2,500 f.p.s., delivering sub-MOA accuracy and enough retained energy for ethical hunting at ranges beyond 300 yards, well past the reach of conventional muzzleloaders.

Marketed as a dedicated long-range muzzleloader. The Paramount line is built around CVA's Bergara-made barrel and the VariFlame ignition system, which uses a small brass insert with a Large Rifle primer for more consistent ignition of high powder charges than a standard 209 shotgun primer. Background
When it launched in 2018, the Paramount answered a growing demand from Western big-game hunters for a muzzleloader that could reach out to 300-plus yards during primitive-weapon seasons, effectively bringing centerfire-class ballistics to blackpowder hunting.
