CZ 527

Česká zbrojovka · Carbine · Discontinued · 1992

Also known as: CZ 527 Carbine, ZKK mini-Mauser

Overview

The CZ 527 is a Czech bolt-action carbine built on a compact 'mini-Mauser' receiver scaled for short cartridges. It uses a controlled-round-feed action with a non-rotating claw extractor, a single set trigger, and a detachable box magazine, and was chambered for small-bore rounds such as .223 Remington, .22 Hornet, .204 Ruger and 7.62x39mm. Valued for its accuracy and traditional walnut-stocked styling, it served as a varmint, predator and small-game rifle until it was discontinued in favour of the modular CZ 600 series.

Background

The CZ 527's compact 'mini-Mauser' receiver made it a favourite of varmint and predator hunters who wanted controlled-round-feed reliability in a light, fast-handling rifle chambered for small high-velocity cartridges.
