Overview
The Dakota Tactical D54-N is a hand-built semi-automatic clone of the Heckler & Koch MP5 submachine gun, manufactured in the United States by Dakota Tactical. The company began as an HK SL8-to-G36 conversion specialist before moving into producing its own line of roller-lock firearms. The D54-N uses the classic roller-delayed blowback action firing from a closed bolt, chambered in 9x19mm Parabellum, and is built with rolled-and-welded steel receivers and cold hammer-forged barrels to faithfully recreate the original MP5. The full-size D54-N carries an 8.85-inch Navy-profile barrel featuring both an HK three-lug mount and 1/2x28 threading for suppressor and muzzle-device flexibility, and a 1:10 twist. It accepts standard MP5 stocks, trigger housings, and accessories, feeds from 30-round curved steel magazines, and wears a fully parkerized finish with an HK Black Duracoat topcoat. Dakota Tactical is regarded as one of the highest-end semi-auto MP5 clone makers, building each rifle to order.

Sold in several configurations: the full-size D54-N rifle (8.85-inch barrel), the compact D54R-N reverse-stretch (5.85-inch barrel, MP5K-style front end on a full receiver), the D54SD (integral-suppressor SD pattern), plus the 5.56 NATO D53 (HK53 pattern) and the .300 Blackout D300. Several configurations are sold as pistols or short-barrel rifles (SBR) depending on stock/brace and barrel length. Specifications reflect the full-size 9mm D54-N rifle; weight and overall length are estimated from the HK MP5 baseline as Dakota Tactical does not publish them. Made to order with roughly a 12-week lead time.
