Overview
The DIO Heydar is an Iranian semi-automatic anti-materiel sniper rifle chambered in 12.7x108mm. Unveiled by Iran's Defense Industries Organization in 2017, it is a gas-operated, magazine-fed weapon designed to engage materiel targets and personnel at long range. It feeds from a five-round side-mounted box magazine, uses a direct-impingement gas system on the right side of the receiver, and is fitted with a large muzzle brake, an adjustable buttstock, a monopod and a Picatinny rail for optics. Iranian sources claim an effective range of roughly 1,600 metres.
