Overview
The Erma SR-100 is a bolt-action sniper rifle developed by Erma Werke GmbH in the late 1990s to meet the Bundeswehr's requirement for a new precision sniper rifle system. Adopted by the German military as the G22, the SR-100 represented a significant upgrade over the aging G3-based sniper systems previously in service. The rifle features a modular design with a free-floating heavy barrel, an aluminum alloy receiver bedded into a synthetic stock with adjustable cheek piece and length of pull. The bolt action employs a multi-lug rotating bolt with a short 60-degree throw for rapid cycling. Chambered primarily in .300 Winchester Magnum, the SR-100 delivers excellent long-range accuracy with effective engagement capability out to 1,100 meters. The rifle's adjustable two-stage trigger and ergonomic design make it well-suited for extended deployment in the field. Production ceased when Erma Werke went bankrupt in 2003, and the Bundeswehr subsequently transitioned to the Accuracy International AXMC as the G29.

Notes
The SR-100 was also offered in .308 Winchester and .338 Lapua Magnum chamberings, though the .300 Winchester Magnum version was the primary military variant. The G22 designation in Bundeswehr service indicates 'Gewehr 22' (Rifle 22). Erma Werke's bankruptcy in 2003 left the Bundeswehr without manufacturer support for the rifle, accelerating the search for a replacement. The rifle uses a proprietary detachable box magazine and features a Picatinny rail for optics mounting. Standard issue optics for the G22 included the Hensoldt ZF 6-24x72 telescopic sight.
Background
The Erma SR-100 was adopted by the Bundeswehr as the G22 in 1997, becoming Germany's first dedicated long-range sniper rifle system in .300 Winchester Magnum. German snipers deployed the G22 extensively in Afghanistan with ISAF, where its accuracy and range proved invaluable in the mountainous terrain of northern Afghanistan.
