Overview

The F-1 Firearms BDR-15 3G is the flagship of the F-1 Firearms lineup, a premium billet AR-15 built around the company's signature skeletonized 7075-T6 aircraft-quality aluminum receiver set and matching skeletonized free-float handguard. Designed for 3-gun competition, it pairs a 16-inch fluted match-grade stainless barrel (1:7 twist, .223 Wylde chamber) and a mid-length gas system with a low-profile gas block, an F-1 compensating muzzle brake, a nickel-boron bolt carrier group, and a competition-grade two-stage trigger. The receiver features F-1's hallmark deeply machined skeletonization, a 60-degree beveled magwell, oversized trigger guard and ejection port, scalloped Picatinny rail, and integrated QD points. The platform evolved into the current-production BDRX-15, which uses an updated unison-design BDRX billet receiver set. F-1 advertises sub-MOA accuracy.

Notes

Empty weight roughly 6.6 lb (~2,994 g) for the 16-inch 5.56/.223 Wylde configuration; varies with barrel and handguard. .223 Wylde chamber safely fires both .223 Rem and 5.56 NATO. Typically shipped with Hiperfire or Geissele two-stage triggers, Magpul MOE furniture, and an ambidextrous charging handle. MSRP for complete rifles roughly $1,800-$2,400 depending on finish/anodizing (custom Galaxy, splash and camo finishes command a premium). The BDR-15 3G has been replaced in current catalogs by the BDRX-15.

Background

F-1 Firearms built its reputation on machined-from-billet skeletonized receivers that became instantly recognizable in the 3-gun and custom AR world; the spider-web cuts are not just cosmetic but shed weight and aid heat dissipation. The brand is now part of the Watchtower Firearms family.
