Overview

The FAIR XLight is an Italian over-and-under break-action hunting shotgun built by Fabbrica Armi Isidoro Rizzini in the Val Trompia gunmaking district of Brescia. Marketed as among the lightest shotguns in the world, its action body is machined from ERGAL 55, an aeronautical-grade aluminium alloy, dropping weight to roughly 2.6 kg in 12 gauge and 2.4 kg in 20 gauge. Chambered for 76 mm (3 in) shells in 12 and 20 gauge, it features a golden single selective trigger, TC XP50 Technichoke interchangeable choke set, quality walnut stock with rubber recoil pad, and golden engravings. Barrels are offered in 68, 71 and 76 cm lengths.

Notes

Weights are approximate and vary by gauge and barrel length: roughly 2.4-2.8 kg in 12 gauge and 2.3-2.6 kg in 20 gauge. Offered in four configurations: the base XLight and Snipe use extractors, while the XLight EM and XLight Prestige use long-stroke selective ejectors; the Prestige adds screwless side plates. The XLight Snipe is a combination gun with a rifled lower barrel and a smoothbore upper barrel taking interchangeable chokes. A double-trigger configuration is available on request.

Background

To shave weight without sacrificing strength, F.A.I.R. machines the XLight's receiver from ERGAL 55, the same high-strength aluminium alloy used in the aeronautics industry, making it one of the lightest production over-and-under shotguns available.
