Also known as: Falkor Defense Petra, PETRA

Overview

The Falkor Petra is a groundbreaking semi-automatic precision rifle chambered in .300 Winchester Magnum, built on an AR-platform architecture. Engineered by Falkor Defense in Kalispell, Montana, the Petra achieves what was long considered impractical: reliable semi-automatic cycling of the powerful .300 Win Mag cartridge in an AR-style rifle with precision accuracy. The rifle features a patented ambidextrous billet receiver set, a proprietary recoil reduction system that dramatically mitigates felt recoil, and a Bartlein precision-grade stainless steel barrel with 1:9.73-inch twist rate. The Geissele SSA-E two-stage trigger provides a crisp, consistent pull for precision shooting. The Falkor DS-300 muzzle brake further tames recoil, while the Luth-AR MBA-1 adjustable stock provides a customizable cheek weld and length of pull. Ambidextrous controls throughout make the Petra fully accessible for both left- and right-handed shooters.

Notes

The Petra was originally developed as the SI Defense .300 Win Mag AR before the company rebranded to Falkor Defense in 2015. MSRP approximately $4,999. The proprietary recoil reduction system is key to reliable .300 Win Mag cycling in the AR platform.

Background

The Petra solved a problem that had confounded firearms engineers for decades: reliably cycling the powerful .300 Winchester Magnum in a semi-automatic AR-platform rifle. Its proprietary recoil reduction system makes the rifle shoot with what users describe as virtually no felt recoil despite firing one of the most powerful standard rifle cartridges.
