FEG P9RC

The FEG P9RC is a semi-automatic pistol chambered in 9x19mm Parabellum, developed by the Hungarian FEGARMY Arms Factory. Designed by Jozsef Kameniczky, it is a modernized development of the FEG P9R, which itself blended the locked-breech, short-recoil action of the Browning Hi-Power with a double-action lockwork inspired by the Smith & Wesson Model 59. The P9RC is distinguished from earlier models by its squared-off trigger guard and refined slide, and it served as the civilian counterpart to the P9M pistols issued to the Hungarian Army. Operation relies on the proven Browning cam system with the barrel locking to the slide via locking lugs, while a slide-mounted safety lever doubles as a decocker, allowing the hammer to be lowered safely over a chambered round. The double-stack magazine feeds fourteen rounds of 9mm, and the all-steel construction gives the pistol a solid, recoil-absorbing heft. Adopted in 1996 to help replace the aging PA-63 in Hungarian service after the dissolution of the Warsaw Pact, the P9RC anchored a family of variants including the aluminum-framed P9RA, the compact P9RK, and the sub-compact P9RZ.
