Notes
The SPR series is built on FN's version of the Winchester Model 70 controlled-feed action, considered one of the strongest and most reliable bolt-action platforms. The A5M designation refers to the McMillan A5 stock. The rifle is guaranteed to shoot 0.75 MOA or better with match-grade ammunition. The SPR program originated from the FBI's requirements for a dedicated precision rifle for the Hostage Rescue Team. Available barrel lengths include 20-inch and 24-inch options.
Background
The FN SPR traces its origins to the FBI's search for a reliable, accurate precision rifle after the 1993 Waco siege and other high-profile incidents highlighted the need for dedicated law enforcement sniper weapons. The SPR's Winchester Model 70 action was chosen for its controlled-round-feed mechanism, which provides the most reliable feeding and extraction under stress conditions.
