Franchi 620
Luigi Franchi S.p.A. · Shotgun · Discontinued · 1998
Also known as: Franchi 620 Field, Franchi Model 620
Overview
The Franchi 620 is a 20-gauge gas-operated semi-automatic shotgun produced in Italy by Luigi Franchi. Part of the 612/620 series introduced in the late 1990s, it uses Franchi's VarioSystem gas action with a reversible adjustment collar on the magazine tube to reliably cycle both 2 3/4-inch and 3-inch shells. A lightweight aluminum receiver keeps the gun to roughly 6 pounds, making it one of the lightest gas-operated field shotguns of its era.

Notes
The 620 is the 20-gauge member of the 612/620 family; the 612 is the 12-gauge counterpart. First imported to the United States around 2000, the line was later superseded by the inertia-driven Franchi Affinity series.
Background
Franchi's VarioSystem gas collar could be flipped by hand to tune the action for light target loads or heavy 3-inch magnums, letting a featherweight 6-pound 20-gauge digest a broad range of ammunition without tools.
