Overview
The Frommer 39M is a Hungarian .380 ACP (9mm Browning Short) semi-automatic pistol built by Fémáru-, Fegyver és Gépgyár (FÉG) in Budapest, produced in limited numbers for the commercial and export market in 1939-1940. It is a late refinement of the Frommer 29M blowback design begun by Rudolf Frommer, retaining a simple blowback action with a stationary barrel, a single-action exposed hammer, and an automatic grip safety. Sometimes catalogued as a 'Frommer Stop 39M', it never entered official Hungarian military service, being overshadowed by the contemporaneous Femaru/Frommer 37M.

Background
Rudolf Frommer had died in 1936, yet FÉG kept refining his blowback pocket-pistol line right up to the outbreak of war, and the 39M is one of the last and rarest of these commercial Frommers before wartime priorities pushed the factory fully onto the military 37M.
