FX Independence

FX Airguns AB · Rifle · Discontinued · 2014

Also known as: FX Airguns Independence, FX Independence Hybrid

Overview

The FX Independence is a precharged pneumatic (PCP) air rifle produced by FX Airguns of Sweden. Its defining feature is a fully integrated hand pump built into the buttstock, allowing the shooter to recharge the onboard air reservoir in the field without any external tank, hand pump, or scuba source. Chambered here in .22 (5.5mm), it delivers up to roughly 30 ft-lbs of energy and around seven full-power shots per charge, after which a few strokes of the internal pump restore pressure. It uses FX's proprietary Smooth Twist barrel and a side-lever cocking single-shot action.

Notes

Marketed as the world's first self-contained PCP air rifle with a fully integrated onboard hand pump. Offered in .177, .22, .25, and .30 calibers. Approximately three pump strokes are needed per shot when topping off, and roughly 15 to 18 strokes bring a spent reservoir back to full capacity.

Background

The Independence answered a long-standing PCP airgun problem: reliance on bulky external air sources. By folding a hand pump directly into the stock, FX let hunters and pest controllers stay in the field indefinitely, trading a few pump strokes for total independence from tanks and compressors.
