Overview
The Ruby Extra is a Spanish double-action revolver produced by Gabilondo y Cia of Eibar from 1955 to 1970 as the company's economical service revolver line. It is a close copy of the Smith & Wesson Military & Police, using a solid frame with a swing-out six-shot cylinder but substituting a coiled mainspring for the original leaf spring. Typically chambered in .38 Special with a 5-inch barrel and service-style grips, it was built primarily for export and became especially popular in the Philippines and South America.

Background
Gabilondo y Cia is best known for the WWI-era Ruby pistol and its later Llama line, but through the 1950s and 1960s it also sold this Smith & Wesson Military & Police clone under the Ruby Extra name, swapping the American leaf mainspring for a simpler coiled spring to cut costs.
