Overview
The Galesi Model 9 is a compact blowback-operated semi-automatic pocket pistol produced by the Italian firm Industria Armi Galesi of Brescia. Introduced in 1930 and based on the earlier Galesi Brevetto 5 design with a lengthened barrel, it was offered in several small calibers including .22 LR, 6.35mm Browning (.25 ACP) and 7.65mm Browning (.32 ACP). The longer barrel improved accuracy and sight radius over the firm's smaller vest-pocket models, while the simple blowback action and steel construction kept it inexpensive and reliable as a self-defense and concealed-carry sidearm.

Notes
Some collectors regard the Model 9 as essentially a Galesi Brevetto 5 fitted with a longer barrel. Galesi pistols were largely shut out of the US market by the Gun Control Act of 1968, contributing to the company's decline.
Background
Founded in 1910 by Giuseppe Nicola Galesi, the firm built its reputation on small, well-made pocket automatics. In 1930 Nicola Galesi patented a new vest-pocket-style pistol that became the Model 9, one of the most successful of the Brescia maker's compact designs.
