Overview
The Glock 26 Gen5 is a subcompact semi-automatic pistol chambered in 9x19mm Parabellum, widely known as the 'Baby Glock.' Introduced in January 2018 as part of Glock's fifth-generation lineup, it builds upon the original Glock 26 platform that debuted in 1995 as Glock's first subcompact offering. The Gen5 features the Glock Marksman Barrel (GMB) with enhanced polygonal rifling and an improved barrel crown for better accuracy, the nDLC (diamond-like carbon) finish for superior durability and corrosion resistance, removal of finger grooves for a universally adaptable grip, an ambidextrous slide stop lever, and a flared magazine well for faster reloads. With an overall length of just 163mm and a 10-round standard capacity, the G26 Gen5 is purpose-built for concealed carry, serving as both a primary everyday carry pistol and a backup weapon for law enforcement officers. The Glock 26 Gen5 does not include an accessory rail, unlike its larger siblings the Glock 17 Gen5 and Glock 19 Gen5. The Gen5 MOS (Modular Optic System) variant adds precision-machined slide cuts for mounting miniature red dot optics. Weight without magazine is 559g (19.72 oz); the 615g spec includes the empty magazine. Standard magazine capacity is 10 rounds, but the G26 is backwards-compatible with all Glock 9mm double-stack magazines (15, 17, 19, 24, and 33 rounds) via grip extensions or flush-fit in larger magazines. Muzzle velocity and energy figures are based on 124-grain FMJ ammunition from the 87mm barrel; shorter barrel length yields approximately 50 fps less than the 102mm barrel of the Glock 19. The Glock 26 is one of the most popular subcompact pistols for concealed carry in the United States and is commonly issued as a backup or off-duty weapon by law enforcement agencies.
