The Glock 45 is the civilian and law enforcement counterpart to the Glock 19X, which was developed for the U.S. Army Modular Handgun System (MHS) competition. Key differences from the 19X include the black nDLC finish (vs. coyote tan), front slide serrations, flared magazine well, and standard Gen5 features. The weight_empty_g of 694g reflects weight with empty magazine per Glock's official specifications; weight without magazine is 616g. The crossover design philosophy provides a full grip for better purchase and control while keeping the shorter slide for easier holstering and indoor maneuverability. Standard magazine capacity is 17 rounds, with optional 19, 24, 31, and 33-round extended magazines available. The G45 MOS variant adds a precision-machined slide cut for direct mounting of reflex optics.
Background
The Glock 45 was born from the Glock 19X, which was Glock's submission to the U.S. Army's Modular Handgun System competition. When the MHS contract went to SIG Sauer, Glock released the crossover concept commercially, first as the coyote-tan 19X and then as the all-black Gen5-featured G45 for the law enforcement market.
