Notes
The Gen4 improvements were particularly well-received on the compact G19 platform. The modular backstrap system was considered a significant upgrade for the compact frame, allowing users with different hand sizes to optimize their grip. The dual recoil spring helped tame the snappier recoil inherent in the shorter G19 slide. The Gen4 G19 became the basis for the U.S. SOCOM standard sidearm contract in 2015. Width remains 32mm, the same as Gen3.
