Notes
The Glock 20 was originally introduced in 1991 as Glock's first 10mm Auto pistol. The Gen5 MOS variant arrived in 2023 with all standard Gen5 improvements plus the optics-ready MOS slide. Weight without magazine is 755g (26.63 oz), with empty magazine 845g (29.81 oz), and loaded 1100g (38.80 oz). The 10mm Auto cartridge produces roughly 60% more muzzle energy than 9mm Parabellum, giving the G20 genuine capability against large predators. The full-size frame and dual recoil spring assembly help manage the considerable recoil of the 10mm cartridge. Standard capacity is 15 rounds, with 10-round magazines available for restricted jurisdictions.
Background
The 10mm Auto cartridge has one of the most dramatic origin stories in firearms: Jeff Cooper envisioned it, the ill-fated Bren Ten chambered it first, and the FBI briefly adopted it before deciding the recoil was too much for most agents -- leading to the development of the .40 S&W as a reduced-power compromise. The Glock 20 outlasted them all, becoming the definitive 10mm platform. In Alaska and bear country, the G20 has earned a reputation as the thinking person's bear gun -- lighter than a revolver, holding 15+1 rounds, and delivering enough energy to give pause to a grizzly.
