Notes
This entry uses the alternate slug 'glock-g22-gen5' (no hyphen between gen and 5). See also 'glock-g22-gen-5' for the hyphenated slug variant. Both reference the same physical firearm. Weight without magazine is 732g (25.82 oz). Barrel length is 114mm (4.49 inches), overall length 202mm (7.95 inches). The Gen5 trigger pull is reduced to 26N from the Gen4's 28N.
Background
The Glock 22 Gen5 arrived at an ironic moment in firearms history: just as the .40 S&W cartridge it championed was falling out of favor. After dominating law enforcement for over two decades, the .40 S&W lost ground rapidly in the mid-2010s as the FBI switched back to 9mm and agencies followed. Yet Glock still invested in a full Gen5 upgrade for the G22, acknowledging that millions of .40 caliber Glock magazines, holsters, and training programs still exist across American law enforcement. The Gen5 G22 is both a refinement of a proven platform and perhaps a farewell tour for the .40 S&W era.
