Notes
The G30S concept originated from end users who discovered that the G36 slide could be fitted onto the G30 SF frame. When a special unit within the LAPD requested a thinner .45 for their detectives without sacrificing capacity, Glock refined the concept with an optimized recoil spring system and released it as the G30S. The 'S' designation stands for 'Slim' referring to the narrower slide. Compatible with all Glock 30 and Glock 21 magazines. The slide width is just 25.5mm (1.00 inch) compared to the standard G30's wider slide.
Background
The Glock 30S is one of the few production firearms born directly from a user modification. Glock enthusiasts discovered that swapping the G36 slide onto the G30 SF frame created an ideal hybrid, and the mod became so popular on Glock forums that the LAPD formally requested Glock produce it. When Glock engineers refined the concept and released it as the G30S, it validated what the community had already proven: sometimes the best engineering comes from the end user.
