Overview
The Grand Power K100 Mk23 is a semi-automatic, hammer-fired pistol chambered in 9x19mm Parabellum, produced by the Slovak manufacturer Grand Power. It is a later production mark of the K100, whose defining feature is a short-recoil, rotating-barrel locking system that uses a cross-pin cam to rotate the barrel out of engagement during the firing cycle. This rotating-barrel action keeps the barrel in line with the frame during recoil, reducing muzzle flip and delivering a notably soft, controllable shooting impression. The Mk23 combines a polymer frame with an integral Picatinny accessory rail, interchangeable backstraps and a stainless-steel slide over a traditional double-action/single-action trigger mechanism, making it a versatile duty and sport pistol.

Notes
The K-series K100 is the hammer-fired DA/SA model of Grand Power's rotating-barrel pistol line (the striker-fired equivalent is the Q100). The Mk23 mark reflects incremental refinements to ergonomics, the rail and the grip over earlier marks such as the Mk6, Mk7 and Mk12.
Background
The K100's rotating-barrel action was conceived by Jaroslav Kuracina, a former Slovak Army weapons officer who first sketched the design in the early 1990s; the resulting pistol earned a reputation for unusually low felt recoil that made it a favourite on the practical-shooting circuit.
