Overview
The Grot 762N is a semi-automatic designated marksman rifle chambered in 7.62x51mm NATO, developed by Fabryka Broni Lucznik-Radom in Poland as a DMR variant of the MSBS Grot modular assault rifle platform. The MSBS-7.62N project began in late 2015, and the rifle was first exhibited during Polish Army DMR trials in 2021. In early 2023, the Polish Army signed a contract for the initial purchase of 250 rifles under the official designation Grot 762N. The rifle is available in two configurations: a 508mm (20-inch) barrel variant with a fixed adjustable stock for dedicated marksman use, and a 406mm (16-inch) barrel variant with the MSBS Grot C's adjustable side-folding stock for more mobile operations. The 20-inch version weighs approximately 5 kg without accessories. The Grot 762N shares many interchangeable components with the standard 5.56mm MSBS Grot carbine family, simplifying logistics and training. The short-stroke gas piston operating system with a rotating bolt ensures reliable cycling, while the free-floating barrel and precision trigger contribute to the accuracy required for designated marksman engagements.
