Overview

The Hämmerli 160 is a Swiss single-shot .22 Long Rifle free pistol built for the 50 metre ISSF/Olympic free pistol event. It uses a rear-hinged breech block action and a highly adjustable mechanical set trigger, paired with an anatomical wooden grip, adjustable target sights and removable barrel counterweights. It was produced alongside the mechanically identical Model 162, which substituted an electronic trigger.

Notes

Sister model to the electronic-triggered Hämmerli 162; the 160 retained a conventional adjustable mechanical trigger. The 160 S revised the counterweight arrangement, housing adjustable weights on bars over the barrel and often adding a factory muzzle brake.

Background

The free pistol discipline the Hämmerli 160 was built for imposes almost no restrictions on the gun, so competitors run trigger pulls of just a few grams — a breath or heartbeat is enough to break the shot at 50 metres.
