Overview

The Hatsan Optima is a 12-gauge over/under break-action shotgun produced in Turkey by Hatsan Arms Company, often sold under the Escort brand. It features a monobloc-construction barrel set chambered for 3-inch magnum shells, a single selective gold-plated trigger with a non-automatic tang safety that doubles as a barrel selector, a 7x7mm ventilated and checkered rib, and a select Turkish walnut stock and fore-end. Marketed as a value-oriented field and clay gun, it ships with five interchangeable multi-chokes and is offered with either an extractor or an automatic ejector.

Background

Hatsan was one of the early Turkish shotgun makers to break into the Western market with affordable, workmanlike designs aimed at hunters and clay shooters rather than collectors, and the Optima over/under is emblematic of that value-driven reputation.
