Overview
The HCAR (Heavy Counter Assault Rifle) is a modernized semi-automatic reimagining of the M1918 Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR) produced by Ohio Ordnance Works. Chambered in .30-06 Springfield, it retains the BAR's long-stroke gas piston, rising-toggle locking action while shedding roughly 40% of the original's weight, adopting a 16- or 20-inch barrel, a detachable 30-round box magazine, an adjustable gas system, a Magpul CTR buttstock and a full-length Picatinny rail for optics.

Notes
Civilian semi-automatic only; the parent M1918 BAR was a select-fire automatic rifle. Available with 16-inch (38.25 in OAL, ~11.75 lb) or 20-inch (42.45 in OAL, ~12.5 lb) barrels; specs here reflect the 16-inch configuration.
Background
Ohio Ordnance Works, long known for reproducing classic belt-fed and automatic weapons, rebuilt the legendary WWI/WWII BAR as a lighter, semi-automatic civilian rifle so collectors could shoot a .30-06 BAR without a machine-gun stamp.
