Overview
The Hi-Point Model 995 is a 9x19mm Parabellum pistol-caliber carbine introduced by Hi-Point Firearms in 1996. Operating on a simple direct-blowback action with a striker-fired mechanism, the 995 is built around a steel-shrouded polymer stock and an alloy receiver, prioritizing low manufacturing cost over refinement. The 995TS (Target Stock) variant, released in Q1 2009, replaces the original boxy stock with a skeletonized polymer chassis featuring multiple Picatinny rails, last-round bolt hold-open, an internal recoil buffer, and a threaded 1/2-28 muzzle. Despite a budget price point and considerable bulk for a 9mm carbine, Hi-Point carbines have earned a reputation for surprising reliability and a lifetime warranty regardless of owner.
