Overview
The H-S Precision Pro Series 2000 HTR (Heavy Tactical Rifle) is an American precision bolt-action sniper rifle adopted by the Israel Defense Forces under the designation 'Barak' (Lightning in Hebrew). Chambered in .338 Lapua Magnum with a 28-inch match-grade stainless steel fluted barrel, the Barak achieves extraordinary accuracy of 0.25-0.5 MOA with IMI match-grade 250-grain ammunition. The rifle's Kevlar/graphite composite stock provides exceptional rigidity while keeping weight to a manageable 4.76 kg without optics. The IDF procurement included Leupold Mark IV optics, McCann rail mount systems, Harris bipods, suppressors, night vision systems, and Horus Vision ballistic computers, creating one of the most comprehensively equipped sniper systems in the Middle East.

The IDF designation 'Barak' (Lightning) was assigned when the rifle was adopted as the standard long-range sniper system. The contract specified delivery with extensive support equipment including Leupold Mark IV rings, McCann rail mount systems, Hardigg hard cases, infrared target illuminators, five 7-round magazines per rifle, Harris bipods, detachable muzzle brakes, cleaning/maintenance kits, and Tripod Data Systems PDAs running Horus Vision ballistic software. The HTR 2000 uses H-S Precision's proprietary 10X match-grade stainless steel barrel with a heavy, fluted profile. H-S Precision stocks are manufactured using a proprietary aluminum bedding block system embedded in a Kevlar/graphite fiber composite shell.
Background
The adoption of the H-S Precision HTR by the IDF under the 'Barak' (Lightning) designation represented a shift in Israeli sniper doctrine toward longer-range engagements. While Israel's IWI had produced capable sniper systems domestically, the IDF chose the American-made H-S Precision rifle for its exceptional accuracy at extreme ranges. The Barak system, combined with Israeli-developed Horus Vision ballistic computing, gave IDF snipers one of the most technologically advanced precision shooting packages in the world.
