Overview
The Ithaca NID (New Ithaca Double) is a boxlock side-by-side double-barrel shotgun made by the Ithaca Gun Company from 1926 to 1948. Offered primarily in 12 gauge - and also in 10 (including 3.5 in magnum), 16, 20, 28 gauge and .410 - it used a single rotary top-bolt lockup, double triggers as standard, and optional automatic ejectors. It was the last double gun Ithaca produced in-house.

Notes
Made in grades Field, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7 and the top 'Sousa' grade (renamed the '$1,000 Grade' after 1936); the Grade 7 is extremely rare with only about 22 made. External cocking indicators were used until around 1934. Total production figures are not reliably documented and weights vary by gauge, barrel length, and grade.
Background
The NID was the last double gun Ithaca built in-house - a high-grade American side-by-side now considered an overlooked classic, with its top 'Sousa' grade quietly renamed the '$1,000 Grade' in 1936.
