Notes

Kimber's Next Generation line reworks Browning's design with an external extractor and a modern optics cut, departing from the traditional internal-extractor 1911.

Background

John Browning's original 1911 used an internal extractor machined from a single piece of spring steel; Kimber's Next Generation line finally swapped it for an external claw, a change 1911 purists had argued about for the better part of a century.
