Overview
The Knight's Armament SR-25 E2 APR (Advanced Precision Rifle) is a semi-automatic precision rifle chambered in 7.62x51mm NATO, featuring a 20-inch match-grade barrel with 5R rifling and a 1:10 inch twist rate. Introduced in 2014 as part of the E2 enhancement series, the APR is purpose-built for precision fire on point targets past 1000 meters. The E2 designation indicates the second-generation bolt carrier and gas system, which provide superior reliability whether firing suppressed or unsuppressed. The rifle uses a URX 4 M-LOK free-float handguard, ambidextrous controls, and feeds from standard SR-25 pattern 20-round detachable magazines. At 10.5 pounds empty, the APR is heavier than a bolt-action equivalent but offers the significant tactical advantage of rapid semi-automatic follow-up shots. The SR-25 platform was originally designed by Eugene Stoner, and the E2 APR represents the latest evolution of his vision for an AR-10 pattern precision rifle.

The SR-25 E2 APR has an overall length range of 39.75 to 43.5 inches (101-110.5cm) depending on stock position. The 20-inch heavy barrel with 5R rifling is the same pattern used in military sniper rifles. The E2 bolt and gas system was designed to function reliably with and without a suppressor. Muzzle velocity with 175-grain M118LR ammunition from the 20-inch barrel is approximately 2600 fps (790 m/s). The SR-25 platform has been adopted by US military as the Mk 11 Mod 0 and M110 SASS in earlier configurations.
Background
The SR-25 lineage traces back to Eugene Stoner's original AR-10 design. Stoner personally worked with Knight's Armament to develop the SR-25 in the 1990s, creating what would become the US military's standard semi-automatic sniper platform. The E2 APR represents the culmination of decades of refinement, offering precision fire past 1000 meters with the rapid follow-up capability that bolt-action rifles cannot match.
