Kpist m/45C

Carl Gustafs Stads Gevärsfaktori · Submachine Gun · Discontinued · 1948

Also known as: Carl Gustaf m/45C, Kulsprutepistol m/45C, Swedish-K

Overview

The Kpist m/45C is a bayonet-equipped ceremonial variant of Sweden's Carl Gustaf m/45B submachine gun, internationally known as the Swedish-K. Like the m/45B, it is chambered in 9x19mm and fires from an open bolt by simple blowback, retaining the fixed 36-round magazine well, tubular folding stock, and perforated barrel jacket of the standard weapon. The distinguishing feature of the m/45C is the addition of a bayonet mount, allowing it to carry a bayonet for guard duties, drill, and formal ceremonial occasions.

Notes

The m/45C differs from the standard m/45B principally in its bayonet-mount fitting; mechanical and ballistic specifications are otherwise shared with the m/45B. Sweden's m/45 family also included the select-fire m/45D adapted for police use with a riot-helmet-friendly stock.

Background

Fitted with a bayonet mount the standard combat m/45 lacked, the m/45C was the version Swedish soldiers presented at the shoulder for guard duty and parade — the ceremonial face of the workmanlike Swedish-K.
