Notes

The SVLK-14S uses Lobaev's proprietary single-shot bolt action optimized for extreme accuracy. The 900mm barrel length maximizes velocity and consistency from the .408 CheyTac cartridge. Lobaev Arms claims the rifle can maintain sub-0.3 MOA accuracy. The company manufactures its own barrels using a proprietary cold-forging process. The designation SVLK stands for Sverkh Vysokaya Tochnost Lobaev Krupnokalibernaya (Super High Precision Lobaev Large Caliber).

Background

In 2017, the Lobaev Arms SVLK-14S set a world record for the longest confirmed rifle shot at 4,210 meters (2.61 miles), later extending this to 4,440 meters with a modified version. Vladislav Lobaev, the company's founder and chief designer, is himself a champion long-range shooter who designs rifles to push the absolute boundaries of ballistic performance. The name 'Sumrak' means 'Twilight' in Russian.
