Overview

The Universal Enforcer M1 (Model 3000) is a .30 Carbine large-format pistol made by Universal Firearms of Hialeah, Florida, derived from the company's commercial M1 Carbine copy. It is a stockless, pistol-grip-only, gas-operated semi-automatic firing the 7.62x33mm .30 Carbine cartridge from standard M1 Carbine magazines. Introduced around 1964, it was offered until the manufacturer became defunct in the early 1980s.

Notes

Categorized as a pistol (no shoulder stock). Barrel length is most consistently cited at 11.25 in (286 mm). Feeds from standard 5-, 15- and 30-round M1 Carbine magazines. The design was later revived under the Iver Johnson name.

Background

The Enforcer was Universal's bid to market a high-powered handgun by lopping the stock and barrel off an M1 Carbine clone, briefly earning cult status as a truck and trail gun before changing regulations and the company's own collapse around 1983 ended its run.
