Overview
The Marlin 336C is the classic pistol-grip walnut-stocked variant of the Marlin Model 336 lever-action rifle, chambered primarily in .30-30 Winchester. Introduced in 1948 as an evolution of the earlier Marlin Model 1893, the 336 platform features a solid-top receiver with side ejection - a key advantage over the Winchester 1894 because it allows easy mounting of scope optics. Among the most popular deer rifles in North American history, the 336C is renowned for its handiness in brush, exceptional reliability, and traditional American walnut stock with cut checkering.

After a production hiatus following Remington's 2020 bankruptcy, Sturm, Ruger & Co. reintroduced the Marlin 336 (as the 336 Classic) in 2023. The 'C' designation traditionally denotes the pistol-grip stock variant.
